Press Shop Operator
Manufacturing company in Montgomeryville, PA is looking for an experienced Press Shop Operator. This job pays $20/hr and is contract-to-hire.
Position Summary: The Press Shop Operator sets up, operates, and maintains manufacturing presses to produce high-quality fabricated parts. Key responsibilities include calibrating machines, loading materials, making machine adjustments based on job orders or blueprints, monitoring production runs for quality and accuracy, performing routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting, and ensures production deadlines are met.
I. Description of Essential Job Functions:
1. Safely operate and monitor presses for tasks like cutting, shaping, and bending materials according to job specifications and blueprints.
2. Prepare machines for each job by installing necessary parts and calibrating settings to meet job requirements.
3. Inspect finished products for defects, use tools to verify quality, and make necessary adjustments to correct any mistakes to ensure products meet Company or customer standards.
4. Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on the machinery to ensure it runs efficiently and safely.
5. Identify and resolve malfunctions or irregularities in the machinery, and report any major issues to a supervisor.
6. Monitor production schedules, maintain quality and production logs, order necessary supplies or parts, and collaborate with other teams as needed.
7. Record production data and report issues to supervisors.
8. Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent, with a strong preference for candidates with technical certification, vocational training in machining, or a completed apprenticeship in a related field.
1–3 years of experience in manufacturing or machine operation preferred.
Experience with computerized or automated press systems.
Computer Skills
Basic computer skills for operating digital presses or monitoring systems
MRO systems experience is a plus.
Required Skills
· Knowledge of machine calibration and adjustment procedures.
· Familiarity with quality control standards and inspection methods.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to perform visual inspections.
· Ability to maintain on call flexibility to control abnormal conditions.
· Ability to be flexible in a constantly changing production environment.
· Physical stamina to stand for long periods and work with heavy machinery.
· Ability to function both independently and with good judgment in a team environment.
· Ability to read and follow written instructions and procedures with minimal supervision.
· Solid ability to read and interpret job orders, blueprints, and complex technical drawings.
· Ability to communicate and work well with all levels inside and outside of the organization.
· Ability to adapt available skills and equipment to respond to unforeseen demands and/or problems.
· Ability to troubleshoot and track equipment issues to perform root cause analysis and support corrective actions.
· Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate, adjust, and maintain machinery to exacting tolerances and precision.
Other Qualifications, Experience, or Requirements:
· Regular and predictable attendance required.
· Must be able to work a fixed or rotating shift schedule, including daily or weekend overtime.
· Work beyond the traditional 40 hours per week may be required as workload or projects dictate, including weekends and holidays.
