Forklift Operator
Position Summary
A growing distribution and logistics company is seeking a reliable Warehouse/Forklift Operator to join its operations team. This position is responsible for the accurate receiving, storage, movement, and shipping of products while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. The ideal candidate will have experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
This is a contract-to-hire position paying $18-19/hr.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving & Inventory Management
Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities against shipping documentation.
Inspect products for damage and report discrepancies.
Unload and store materials in designated warehouse locations.
Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counting.
Ensure proper stock rotation and inventory control practices.
Order Fulfillment
Pick and prepare customer orders accurately using warehouse management systems and scanning equipment.
Transport products safely throughout the warehouse using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
Label, tag, and stage orders for shipment as required.
Shipping
Verify outgoing orders for accuracy, including quantities and shipping information.
Load trailers and containers safely and efficiently.
Ensure shipments are prepared according to customer and company requirements.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Additional Duties
Repack, relabel, or repackage products as needed.
Assist with light assembly, pick-and-pack projects, and value-added services.
Operate shrink-wrap equipment and perform general warehouse housekeeping tasks.
Support special projects and other warehouse functions as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of warehouse and forklift experience preferred.
Ability to read, write, perform basic math, and follow written instructions.
Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), barcode scanning, and inventory tracking technology.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, reaching, squatting, and repetitive movements throughout the workday.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
Ability to work effectively under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Must successfully pass pre-employment screening requirements.
