Fall Into Good Habits This Season
Every new season brings time to change and reflect on our lives and careers. What are we doing well? What can we do better? What do we need? These are all questions we find asking ourselves. So, what can you do better in terms of job searching and being a better employee this Fall? Here are some of the most common (and easiest!) ways you can improve your work performance:
Arrive on time, if not a few minutes early – and be prepared to work and get your day started.
Avoid distractions. Put your cell phone on mute if it takes your attention away from work.
Communicate better. Did your e-mail sound a little gruff? Could you sound nicer to your co-workers and boss?
Take pride in your work. Some days are always harder than others, but it is important to always put your best effort into each workday.
Always act in a professional matter. Some discussions are better left unsaid while at work, even if you are friendly with your boss and coworkers!
Customer service is top priority. If you are in a client-facing role where you interact with others, your main goal should be solving the customer’s problem in a kind and timely fashion.
Keep your social media accounts clean. This doesn’t need much more explaining…
Be honest. Tell your boss if you’re struggling or need help with your workload. Maybe there is a solution that can help!
These are just a few (of many!) ways you can re-evaluate your work life. It is always helpful to reset and focus on what you’re doing well and what you could do better. If you are struggling with your job because you dislike the type of work or the pay isn’t enough, then prepare yourself to start looking elsewhere. It is always helpful to have your most recently updated resume ready to go. Online job boards and Recruitment Agencies, such as McCallion Staffing, are a great first step in starting your job search and they are completely free for you. Have any questions?
